 Поль-Эмиль Виктор (8 июня 1907, Женева - 7 марта 1995, Бора-Бора) - французский ученый, полярный исследователь и открыватель, писатель и публицист. Инициатор французских полярных экспедиций после второй мировой войны. В 1925 г. начал обучаться в Ecole Centrale de Lyon. Через три года, не окончив университет, был принят по конкурсу в Национальную Школу Морской Навигации в Марселе. Там же отбыл военную службу. В 1931 г. получил лицензию пилота.  В 1933 году получил степень бакалавра по литературе и естественным наукам в университете Парижа. После встречи с известным французским путешественником и полярником Жаном-Батистом Шарко решил реализовать свою мечту о дальних путешествиях. В 1934-1939 гг. принимал участие в полярных экспедициях в Гренландии и Лапландии. В 1939 г. был мобилизован на фронт. Был агентом французской разведки и связным офицером в Финляндии. С 1941 г. в США, где работал пилотом-инструктором. В 1947 г. создал организацию под названием Французские Полярные Экспедиции. За 29 лет работы организация провела 150 полярных экспедиций, из которых 17 в Антарктиде и Земле Адели, и 14 в Арктику. После выхода на пенсию,  в 1977 г. выехал в Полинезию, где занялся писательством.

 Paul-Emile Victor (June 8, 1907, Geneva - March 7, 1995, Bora Bora) - French scientist, polar explorer and discoverer, writer and publicist. The initiator of the French polar expeditions after World War II. In 1925 he began to study at the Ecole Centrale de Lyon. Three years later, not after graduation was admitted to the competition at the National School of maritime navigation in Marseille. There's also left military service. In 1931, he received a pilot's license. In 1933, he received a bachelor's degree in literature and science at the University of Paris. After meeting with the famous French traveler and polar explorer Jean-Baptiste Charcot decided to realize their dream of long-distance travel. As of 1934-1939. took part in polar expeditions in Greenland and Lapland. In 1939 he was mobilized to the front. Was an agent of the French intelligence and liaison officer in Finland. Since 1941 in the US, where he worked as an instructor pilot. In 1947 he founded an organization called the French Polar Expeditions. For 29 years the organization held 150 polar expeditions, of which 17 are in the Antarctic and Adelie Land, and 14 in the Arctic. After retirement in 1977, he went to Polynesia, where he began writing.
