 Пони Экспресс - почтовая служба небольшой американской курьерской компании XIX века Central Overland California and Pikes Peak Express Company, поддерживавшей конную почту в Северной Америке.  Pony Express - is a postal service of a small American courier company of the 19th century, Central Overland California and Pikes Peak Express Company, which maintained horse mail in North America. It lasted about a year and a half (from April 1860 to October 1861) and became a household name because of the motto «Mail should be delivered at all costs». The main task of the service was the delivery of mail from the Atlantic Ocean (from St. Joseph, Missouri) to the Pacific Ocean (in Sacramento) for 10 days. Throughout the 2,000-mile route (3106 km), there were postal stations at every 10 to 15 miles where horses were changed. The first couriers set out on April 3, 1860, from St. Joseph and Sacramento at the same time. Because of the high cost of operations (with the income of 90 thousand, the losses amounted to - 200 thousand dollars), and also because of the bandit attacks and, most importantly, because of the developing technology of the telegraph, the company as a result was ruined.
