 Розовый пеликан (лат. Pelecanus onocrotalus) - крупная водоплавающая птица семейства пеликановых. Розовый пеликан - крупная птица массой 10-12 кг, длина крыла у самцов 70-75 см, у самок - 64-69 см, размах крыльев 1.7-2 метра. Пеликаны в основном держатся стаями. Питаются исключительно рыбой. Для охоты выбирают мелководные участки. На территории Украины в 1-й половине 20 века небольшие колонии розового пеликана существовали в низовьях рек, впадающих в Черное и Азовское моря. После Второй Мировой войны гнездования на территории Украины не наблюдалось, но начиная с 2000 года отдельные гнезда розового пеликана время от времени обнаруживаются сотрудниками Дунайского биосферного заповедника в украинской части дельты Дуная. На пролете и летом встречается в дельте Дуная и на придунайских водоемах (лиман Сасык, придунайские пресноводные озера), на лиманах в междуречье Днестра и Днепра, в районе Черноморского биосферного заповедника, у берегов Крымского полуострова. Занесен в Красную книгу Украины.

 Pink pelican (latin. Pelecanus onocrotalus) is a large waterfowl of the family Pelecanidae. Pink pelican is a large bird with a mass of 10-12 kg, wing length in males is 70-75 cm, in females is 64-69 cm, wingspan is 1.7-2 meters. They feed exclusively on fish. For hunting choose shallow areas. On the territory of Ukraine in the first half of the 20th century, small colonies of the pink pelican existed in the lower reaches of the rivers flowing into the Black and Azov Seas. After the Second World War, nesting was not observed on the territory of Ukraine, but since 2000 individual nests of the pink pelican have been discovered from time to time by employees of the Danube Biosphere Reserve in the Ukrainian part of the Danube Delta. On migration and in summer occurs in the Danube delta and on the Danube water bodies (Sasik estuary, Danube freshwater lakes), in estuaries in the interfluve of the Dniester and Dnieper rivers, near the Black Sea biosphere reserve, off the coast of the Crimean peninsula. It is listed in the Red Book of Ukraine.
