 Джеймс Мэтью (Дж. М.) Барри (англ. James Matthew "J. M." Barrie, 9 мая 1860, Кирримьюр - 19 июня 1937, Лондон) - шотландский драматург и романист, автор цикла сказочных произведений о Питере Пэне.

 James Matthew (J. M.) Barrie (May 9, 1860, Kirriemuir - June 19, 1937, London) is a Scottish playwright and novelist, author of a series of fabulous works about Peter Pan.

 Во всём мире Барри известен как автор сказки о Питере Пэне. Впервые его образ появился в двух ранних книгах Барри. В романе «Томми и Гризел» упоминается отбившийся от семьи мальчик, который очень рад, что потерялся, но боится, что его всё же отыщут и заставят вырасти. Потом о мальчике, который не хотел расти, было подробно рассказано в шести главах детской книги «Белая птичка» (The Little White Bird, 1902), вышедших затем отдельной книгой под названием «Питер Пэн в Садах Кенсингтона» (Peter Pan in Kensington Gardens, 1906) с иллюстрациями Артура Рэкхэма.

 Throughout the world, Barry is known as the author of the tale of Peter Pan. His image first appeared in Barry's two early books. The novel «Tommy and Grisel» mentions a boy who has lost his family and is very glad that he was lost, but is afraid that he will still be found and forced to grow up. Then, the boy who did not want to grow up was described in detail in six chapters of the White Bird children's book (1902), which later came out as a separate book called Peter Pan in the Kensington Gardens (1906) with illustrations by Arthur Rackham.
