 Реформация (лат. reformatio - преобразование, реформирование) - широкое религиозное и общественно-политическое движение в Западной и Центральной Европе XVI - начала XVII века, направленное на реформирование католического христианства в соответствии с Библией. Основной причиной Реформации явилась борьба между представителями зарождавшегося капиталистического способа производства и защитниками господствовавшего феодального строя, охраной идеологических догм которого занималась католическая церковь. Интересы зарождавшегося класса буржуазии и поддержавших его идеологию народных масс нашли проявление в основании протестантских церквей, призывавших к скромности, экономии, накоплению и опоре на себя, а также в формировании национальных государств, в которых церковь не играла главную роль. Началом Реформации принято считать выступление доктора богословия Виттенбергского университета Мартина Лютера 31 октября 1517 года в котором он обнародовал свои 95 тезисов, которые были нацелены против практики продажи индульгенций и отмечали, что человек достигает "спасения души" не через церковь и ее обряды, а с помощью веры, дарованной ей непосредственно Богом.

 Reformation (latin - transformation, reform) - a broad religious and socio-political movement in Western and Central Europe XVI - the beginning of the XVII century, aimed at reforming Catholic Christianity in accordance with the Bible. The main reason for the Reformation was the struggle between the representatives of the emerging capitalist mode of production and the defenders of the dominant feudal system, whose protection of the ideological dogmas was practiced by the Catholic Church. The interests of the nascent class of the bourgeoisie and the popular masses that supported it have found expression in the founding of Protestant churches, calling for modesty, economy, accumulation and self-reliance, and in the formation of national states in which the church did not play the main role. The beginning of the Reformation is considered to be the speech of Martin Luther, doctor of theology at the University of Wittenberg, on October 31, 1517, in which he published his 95 theses that were aimed against the practice of selling indulgences and noted that a person attains "salvation of the soul" not through the church and its rites, but through faith, given to her directly by God.
