На аверсе купюры номиналом 500 вьетнамских донг изображен Хо Ши Мин (19 мая 1890 - 2 сентября 1969) - вьетнамский революционер, государственный, политический, военный и партийный деятель. Последователь марксизма-ленинизма, член Французской коммунистической партии с 1920 года, видный деятель Коминтерна, основатель Коммунистической партии Вьетнама (1930) и Коммунистической партии Индокитая (1930), создатель Вьетминя (1941), руководитель августовской революции (1945), первый президент Демократической Республики Вьетнам (1945) и создатель Национального фронта освобождения Южного Вьетнама («Вьетконга») (1960).
The obverse of the 500 Vietnamese Dong banknote depicts Ho Chi Minh (May 19, 1890 - September 2, 1969) - a Vietnamese revolutionary, statesman, political, military and party leader. Follower of Marxism-Leninism, member of the French Communist Party since 1920, prominent figure of the Comintern, founder of the Communist Party of Vietnam (1930) and the Communist Party of Indochina (1930), founder of Viet Minh (1941), leader of the August Revolution (1945), first president of the Democratic Republic of Vietnam (1945) and founder of the National Liberation Front of South Vietnam (Viet Cong) (1960).
На реверсе купюры номиналом 5000 вьетнамских донг изображена изображение гидроэлектростанция Чиан. Объект находится в провинции Донгнай на юге Вьетнама в 65 километрах от города Хошимина. Гидроэлектростанция строилась с 1984 по 1991 год при финансовой поддержке СССР и технической помощи советский специалистов. Выпуск банкноты приурочен к сдаче гидроэлектростанции в эксплуатацию в 1991 году.
The reverse of the 5000 Vietnamese Dong banknote depicts the Chian hydroelectric power plant. The facility is located in the Dong Nai province in the south of Vietnam, 65 kilometers from the city of Ho Chi Minh City. The hydroelectric power plant was built from 1984 to 1991 with financial support from the USSR and technical assistance from Soviet specialists. The issue of the banknote is timed to coincide with the commissioning of the hydroelectric power plant in 1991.
