Международная компания «Сохранение полярных регионов и ледников» (англ. аббревиатура PPRG) проводилась под эгидой «Международного полярного года (2007-2008)» (англ. аббревиатура IPY) посвящена повышению осведомленности о состоянии дефицита полярных регионов и ледников в эпоху глобального потепления. Многие страны согласились принять участие, и посвятили этому событию свои почтовые выпуски. На сегодняшний день, почтовые марки или иные почтовые отправления, выпущены для PPRG из 55 стран.
Международный полярный год 2007-2008 (англ. International Polar Year 2007-2008), или четвёртый международный полярный год, проходил с 1 марта 2007 года по 1 марта 2009 года. В его рамках проводилась работа по более чем 800 различным проектам. Как и предыдущие подобные проекты, он был призван объединить международные усилия в исследовании арктического и антарктического полярных регионов. Также были проведены масштабные программы исследований Солнца, околоземного космического пространства, магнитосферы, ионосферы и атмосферы Земли, изучение процессов, определяющих космическую погоду. Спонсорами события стали Международный совет по науке и Всемирная метеорологическая организация.
International company «Preserve the Polar Regions and Glaciers» (PPRG) was held under the auspices of the «International Polar Year (2007-2008)» (IPY) is dedicated to increasing awareness of the fragile state of the polar regions and glaciers in the era of global warming.
